Prior to joining BGI Michelle was Managing Director at Governance for Owners. Michelle also spent over eight years at Hermes Pensions Management, initially as the head of the corporate governance team and thereafter as Director of Institutional Relations. She is an active participant in the public corporate governance debate and regularly speaks and writes on the importance of good stewardship for company performance. She is a member of the Investment Committee of Eumedion in the Netherlands and Chairman of the Shareholder Rights Committee of the International Corporate Governance Network.

David Jackson has been Company Secretary at BP plc position since July 2003. He is actively involved with the Board and its Committees in the development of corporate governance. Previously he was General Counsel and Company Secretary at PowerGen from 1989 to 2002 were he was responsible for all legal matters relating to the PowerGen Group of Companies and all company secretarial matters relating to the Board its committees and their corporate governance. Prior to that David held a number of legal positions with Matthew Hall, AMEC, Chloride Group, Nestle UK and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. He is a member of the Listing Authorities Advisory Committee and also a Director of BP Pensions Trustees Limited.

Lucy is the Financial Time’s management columnist and associate editor. For the last decade, her weekly Monday column has poked fun at management fads and jargon and celebrated the ups and downs of office life. In her 20 years at the FT Lucy has been energy correspondent, Brussels correspondent, a Lex writer, and an interviewer of business people and celebrities for the Lunch with the FT series.
She has won various prizes including the Industrial Society WorkWord Award (twice) and the Wincott Young Financial Journalist Award. Her book, Sense and Nonsense in the Office, was published by FT Prentice Hall in 1999. Martin Lukes: Who Moved My BlackBerry(TM) was published in July 2005 by Penguin. She was named columnist of the year at the 2006 British Press Awards. She is a non-executive director of Admiral Group which is listed on the Main Market.

Simon is the managing partner of Grant Thornton’s Business Risk Service practice. His focus is in working with large organisations to achieve an appropriate balance between value retention and value creation as they continue to develop and strengthen their governance practices. He is lead partner on a number of FTSE 350 or equivalent internal audit contracts and is the author of the FTSE 350 Corporate Governance Review and the Football Association Corporate Governance Guide as well as contributing a chapter “Is the Model Working?” to The Business Case for Corporate Governance published by Cambridge University Press.
